This one is another personal one for us. Chuck Ragan is not only a dear friend to some of us here, but he continues to be an inspiration as a musician and an all around awesome dude.

This was a special evening for us as Tim Barry and Gainesville buddies Whiskey & Co. joined Chuck at the Backyard at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. It was a glorious summer evening and the crowd was in rare form after having filled their bellies with beer and roasted oysters pulled straight from the Matanzas River. As Chuck mentions, this area is extremely special to him as he has spent many hours navigating the waters of the Matanzas River, Anastasia and Salt Run. The man has mountain air in his lungs and salt water running through his veins. Only his passion to play music rivals his love for the outdoors and all it entails.

I have know Chuck for over 20 years and I am still constantly in awe of the music that he creates and the relentless touring around the world he does, solo and with Hot Water Music. From the moment I met Chuck, I was struck by his absolute earnestness and unique take on music and the world we live in. As each year passes, he proves to have more grit and integrity than almost anyone I know and I am proud to call him a friend.

I am certain Chuck will continue to write great music and tour the world with a guitar in one hand and a fishing pole in the other. He is always fighting the good fight and making us all feel that much better about the world we live in. - Ryan Murphy
